World Tree Porcelain Ornament

$175.00

Inspired by a depiction of the peridexion tree in a medieval manuscript held by Bibliothèque municipale de Douai. The peridexion tree was popular in medieval bestiaries. It is described as growing in India, attracting doves and deterring serpents. The serpents were afraid of the shadow cast by the tree and therefore only caught the doves that strayed outside of its shadow.

Each ornament is handmade in porcelain, handpainted and glazed to a high-gloss finish, and embellished with 22k gold luster accents. Each piece is unique and one-of-a-kind. Small marks and minor imperfections may be visible due to the nature of the handmade process.

Measures approximately 4.5” tall.
